Why did you choose to join BASC?

BASC is changing healthcare by offering credentials specific to the ASC environment. These credentials elevate leaders and their ASCs by proudly showing the world that this leader cares about quality and patient care. I am proud to be part of such an organization.​​

When you first heard about BASC what were your initial thoughts?

​I first heard about BASC many years ago and was excited that there was an organization that was fully committed to ASCs and leader development.

What is your favorite thing about being on BASC’s leadership board?

We can really make a difference in ambulatory surgical care by preparing and showcasing leaders who display the best in the ASC industry.

How has being a part of BASC helped you professionally and/or personally?

Being part of BASC has helped me meet others at conferences and encourage them to gain their credentials to show their expertise. I very much enjoy meeting other ASC professionals, many of whom have become friends.

How do you think earning and maintaining the CAIP/CASC credential will benefit certificants and their ASC?

The CASC and CAIP credentials demonstrate to accreditation and regulatory agencies that you are serious about your job and have taken extra steps to ensure excellence.

What advice would you give to those individuals who are considering becoming a certificant?

Review the handbook and the content areas. Determine which areas you are strong in and which you need additional learning. References are listed that will be of great help in studying for the exam. Additionally, consider a prep course – there are a few out there that are really good!
