How to Meet Your CASC Recertification Requirements
All certificants must earn 30 AEUs during each three-year CASC recertification cycle, with at least six AEUs in each of the five AEU content areas. These hours must be submitted once by December 31 of the final year in the cycle through the CASC online recertification system.
To maintain your credential, an annual fee of $180 must be paid between October 1 and December 31 each year. This ongoing CASC annual fee supports continued certification and program administration.
Failure to meet the credit or payment requirements will result in revocation of the credential. There is no extension period allowed.
Required AEU Content Areas
Certificants must earn six AEUs in each of the following five areas:
- Delivery of Patient Care
- Financial
- Human Resources
- Quality Management
- Regulatory & Legal Issues
Effective January 1, 2024: Self-reported continuing education hours are accepted and can count toward your CASC AEUs. Refer to the CASC Candidate Handbook (PDF) for submission instructions.
How to Earn and Document AEUs
ASCA Programs
Earn AEUs through Ambulatory Surgery Center Association (ASCA) events, including the Annual Conference and Virtual Education . These programs help you stay current with CASC recertification requirements and maintain your credential.
Approved Education Providers
Courses are also available through BASC-approved providers, which may be approved for one year, three years or single events. See the Upcoming Events page for provider-submitted courses that qualify for CASC credit submission.
Documentation Requirements
For preapproved courses, you do not need to upload attendance certificates when reporting AEUs, but you must retain copies of certificates and handouts in case you are selected for a CASC audit. All certificants are required to enter program details in the CASC online recertification system through the CASC portal . BASC conducts random audits on an annual basis to confirm compliance with CASC recertification requirements.
