Certified Administrator Surgery Center (CASC) is

  • a credential that connotes expertise in ASC administration
  • the only credential specifically for ASCs
  • recognition awarded to those who demonstrate their expertise in ASC administration
When you see Mary Smith, CPA, CASC, you know that she has demonstrated her knowledge of what it takes to be an ASC administrator.

The CASC exam is for those with a comprehensive understanding of the skills and knowledge that the role of ASC administrator requires, those who want to demonstrate expertise in this very complex and demanding position, and those who are interested in establishing credibility and building value for themselves and their ASC. The CASC exam is for

  • ASC administrators
  • those seeking a position as an ASC administrator
  • those with responsibility for overseeing and evaluating the proficiency and expertise of an ASC administrator
  • those wanting to demonstrate a broad understanding of ASC management

Test topics for the CASC exam were identified through a survey of ASC administrators and owners across the country. Based upon the results of this survey, several hundred test questions were prepared by a team of experienced ASC administrators. From these, an independent committee of ASC administrators chose 200 questions to include in the CASC exam.

The CASC exam will have five equally weighted sections that will test knowledge in the following categories:

  • delivery of patient care
  • quality management
  • human resources
  • financial and business development
  • regulatory and legal issues
Within each category, the test will evaluate three types of knowledge: recall, application and analysis.
